Controlling the pace of technology

Humans have made a lot of progress in many fields, thanks to technology. However, if we look at certain areas, it seems that we have made a very little headway. One example is the commercialization of electric vehicles. We could argue that if we could make electric bullet trains, why is it so difficult to make electric cars?

Perhaps, somebody does not want electric cars, because either it is not financially attractive or is financially threatening. There was a talk of the cheapest car (cheaper than Tata Nano), being an electric car Tara Tiny. But nobody knows where it came from and where did it go.

Imagine the cost of cancer treatment, which gives no gaurentee whatsoever. Why would any hospital invest in finding an affordable cure to cancer when they are already well off with what they have now? True, there will be people, who want to prove a point or are not earning from the current scenario, who will try hard to develop an alternative. But, such efforts will be very limited.

The main point of this article is that we are controlling the technology for our financial selfish motives. How will this change? Lets discuss!
